Dr Chris Wallace & Dr Mikhail Spivakov – Genomes and Diseases

A collaborative team of Cambridge researchers, led by scientists at the Babraham Institute, have discovered the hidden connections in our genomes that contribute to common diseases. The research, published in the journal Cell, gives details of the Institute’s pioneering technique which could help the design of new drugs and future treatment for a range of diseases including rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. With us in the studio is Dr Mikhail Spivakov, Babraham Institute Group leader in the Nuclear Dynamics programme and Dr Chris Wallace, Wellcome Trust funded statistician at the University of Cambridge and MRC Biostatistics Unit.
